Under The Power: Episode 21
Jin Xia points out that they can’t run away, then tells Master Mao that she would love to draw the blueprints of the gun but that she can’t because she hasn’t seen the inside structure of it. Jin Xia says that she will need to see the gun first, if Master Mao wants her to draw the blueprints. Master Mao caves in by showing her the gun but refuses to let her touch it.
Lu Yi and Uncle Beggar are still untying their ropes in the cart. Jin Xia buys them some time by starting to draw the blueprints. It isn’t long before Lu Yi signals Jin Xia that the two are free, which is when Jin Xia takes her gun back from Master Mao and the fighting begins.

Uncle Beggar calls Jin Xia “Little Brat” and says that she should take the poisoned Lu Yi and run. Uncle Beggar provides a distraction, keeping the bandits at bay until the other two escape, then it’s his turn to run.
While Lu Yi is leaning heavily on Jin Xia while they run, his can’t get very far before he can’t run anymore. Jin Xia leads him to tall grass, then covers him up. She tells him to hide well, while Jin Xia will play decoy to lead the bandits away from him. Jin Xia promises that she will come back for him though.
Jin Xia successfully leads the bandits away from Lu Yi’s hiding place just as they were about to find him. She leads them quite a distance away before she hides herself. The bandits run right past her. Jin Xia having ditched the thugs can now go back for Lu Yi, and together they can stumble along. Uncle Beggar is having a harder time getting rid of the thugs chasing him.

Unfortunately Jin Xia and Lu Yi run out of running space as they come to the edge of a cliff. They can’t even backtrack because Master Mao and his thugs have blocked the path. Master Mao says that there was no need to run as he knew the route lead to a dead end. Lu Yi tells Jin Xia not to be afraid as they will find a way. Jin Xia tells Master Mao that if he or his thugs come any closer, then the two will jump.
Master Mao says that if Jin Xia wants Lu Yi to live then all she has to do is draw the blueprints for her gun. Lu Yi says that if Master Mao is so interested in the gun, then Lu Yi can send him to the Divine Engine Division to learn. Master Mao can’t believe that the two are still trying to negotiate with him. Jin Xia then brags that they knew Master Mao’s plan all along as Lu Yi can understand Japanese (Don’t go giving away your advantage!)

Master Mao is impressed with Lu Yi’s linguistic abilities so he offers to forgive them, using Lu Yi’s condition as a bargaining chip by offering to find a cure for the poison. Jin Xia counters by asking Master Mao why he thinks that they would trust him. Master Mao points out that they really don’t have much of a choice. Lu Yi says that he’s sorry he’s going to have to disappoint, then he grabs Jin Xia and jumps off the cliff.
Shangguan Xi, Yang Yue and Xie Xiao show up just in time to watch the two jump over the cliff. Lu Yi grabbed a vine though so they didn’t fall to their doom. Master Mao goes to cut the vine with his sword but he’s stopped by the amazing Yang Yue. A fight breaks out on the cliff top while the main two just hang on the vine..

Jin Xia notices that the vine is struggling to hold their weight so she tells Lu Yi to let her drop as he may be able to make it back up the cliff on his own with his skills. Lu Yi refuses saying that they will either live or die together and asks Jin Xia to trust him. Lu Yi lets go of the vine and the two drop to nearby ledge. Jin Xia is excited that they are still alive. Master Mao has no choice but to retreat as the authorities are on the way. The trio now have to find a way down to Lu Yi and Jin Xia.

Poor Uncle Beggar couldn’t get rid of the Japanese pirates that were chasing him, so he beats them all up. He then goes to meet Lu Yi and Jin Xia at a dock. Jin Xia scolds Uncle Beggar saying that if he just beat up Master Mao then they wouldn’t have had so much trouble. Uncle Beggar says that he may be able to deal with a bunch of thugs but their leader is on another level. Lu Yi says that they are just fortunate to be out of danger.
Uncle Beggar makes Lu Yi sit down so his health can be checked. Uncle Beggar figured out that Lu Yi used his internal force and warns him not to do it again.. if he wants to live. The three are about to go find the medical doctor to treat Lu Yi’s poison.. when Uncle Beggar admits that the doctor refuses to treat government officials. Jin Xia says that it won’t be an issue since Lu Yi is wearing civilian clothing, they just won’t show her his badge. Lu Yi refuses to make a doctor go against their principles though and suggests that they head back.

Jin Xia tells Lu Yi to rest and to leave everything up to her. She then tells Uncle Beggar that they won’t lie to the doctor.. they just won’t tell her that they are government officials. Jin Xia reminds Uncle Beggar that he’s related to Lu Yi by blood and that the poison is his fault to begin with. Uncle Beggar agrees to keep quiet about them. Jin Xia says that even if the doctor does find out, Uncle Beggar can place on the blame on her.

The three head down river on a raft that looks like it should be going down a snowy hill instead of a river. Jin Xia is concerned that Uncle Beggar might not remember the way to the doctor, but he says that he could find the place with his eyes closed. Jin Xia wonders how long Uncle Beggar has known the doctor. Uncle Beggar says that he’s known her for 20 years, he also asks that they don’t tell the doctor that he led them there.
Jin Xia teases Uncle Beggar by suggesting that he was in love with the Doctor, causing some kind of grudge. Uncle Beggar denies it, he says that they will see what she’s like when they get there. The doctor’s name is Lin Ling but they can call her Dr. Lin. While the two are talking, Lu Yi starts to cough up blood. Some of the blood lands in the river water drawing snakes towards them.
U&no le Beggar warns them not to squish the snakes as more blood will attract more snakes. They toss the snakes away with their hands but Jin Xia is really grossed out by snakes so she isn’t much help.

Yan Shi Fan meets with Master Mao on his boat. While having some wine, Master Mao starts to make lusful eyes at Lan Ye which is when Shi Fan changes the subject mentioning the destruction of the Dragon Imprisonment Well. Master Mao complains about Lu Yi and Jin Xia ruining all his plans, he mentions that he will get his revenge. Master Mao hates Jin Xia the most.. because she shot at him.
Shi Fan is surprised that someone so small like Jin Xia could hurt someone like Master Mao. Master Mao tells Shi Fan about Lu Yi being poisoned, so he only has a few days to live. Shi Fan wonders how Lu Yi will overcome this latest obstacle.

Lu Yi and the gang manage to make it safely to shore. Uncle Beggar gets a walking stick to help Lu Yi with his mobility. Then Uncle Beggar gives them directions to Doctor Lin’s Maple Col. Uncle Beggar won’t be coming with them but he gives them some powder to fend off some of the toxic creatures that live along the path.
Jin Xia puts the powder on herself then on Lu Yi. She takes so long doing it to Lu Yi that Uncle Beggar teases her about having a crush on his grandson. This makes Jin Xia think back to when she was wiping the sweat off of Lu Yi at the inn. Jin Xia gets flustered saying she doesn’t have a crush but Lu Yi smiles. The two then set out to find Doctor Lin.

Lan Ye has to pour Master Mao a drink, which is when he gets a case of the wandering hands. Shi Fan notices, then warns Master Mao not to touch his things.. but he likes to give things away. Master Mao laughs saying that no one would dare to touch Shi Fan’s stuff. Master Mao says that he heard about Liao Wenhua taking over the Censor of the Southeast job.
Master Mao says that because Liao Wenhua is one of Shi Fan’s people, it will be more convenient for them to do business together. Shi Fan tells Master Mao to put together a list of things that he needs in order to investigate the Japanese pirates and Shi Fan will take care of it. Master Mao says that he’s always looking for more opportunities to make money, and that doing business with Shi Fan is always a safe bet. Lan Ye pours Master Mao more wine but this time he doesn’t touch her.

Lu Yi and Jin Xia walk through a mystical red maple forest. Jin Xia notices that there are a lot of snakes in this fairyland like forest. Lu Yi tells her that they will be okay since they have the powder. They start to walk but the snake gets a little close, which panics Jin Xia. Lu Yi says he’s finally found something that Jin Xia is afraid of. Jin Xia tells him that she’s been afraid of snakes since she was a child. (Snakes are so cool though!)
Lu Yi offers to carry her on his back but she refuses claiming that she’s not as scared of the snakes anymore. In reality it’s probably because Lu Yi looks ready to collapse any second. They walk a little further when the snakes attack. Jin Xia shoots at the poor snakes.. Lu Yi says that it’s not surprising to see wild snakes in the mountains but it’s suspicious that there are so many of them and so many different species of snakes too.
Lu Yi suspects that someone is raising the snakes in captivity. They spot a cabin in the woods, which must be where the doctor lives. Jin Xia asks Lu Yi to hand his badge over so the doctor doesn’t suspect that he is a government official.

Lan Ye reports that Mao Haifeng has left and that no spotted him. She then asks Shi Fan if Master Mao is reliable. Shi Fan says that Mao Haifeng has taken over the territory of the previous head, which was terminated by the Great Ming’s Court. Shi Fan says that Master Mao is getting stronger but is not up to his standards of ability.
Shi Fan says that he has a plan to deal with Mao Haifeng, should he prove to be disloyal to him. Lan Ye advises caution when dealing with Master Mao. She then asks what Shi Fan thinks about Lu Yi being poisoned. Shi Fan says that it’s none of his business.

Jin Xia helps Lu Yi walk over to the cabin where they meet a young woman. Jin Xia calls her a doctor and asks her for help. The young woman tells them that there is no doctor there, then asks how they found the cabin. Jin Xia says that they heard about a doctor in Maple Col. so they decided to try their luck. The young woman again denies that there is a doctor living there.
Jin Xia points out that there are lots of herbs around, plus the woman smells herbal. Jin Xia accuses the young woman of being the doctor, then begs her to help Lu Yi. The young woman asks Jin Xia what her relationship with Lu Yi is. Jin Xia claims to be his maidservant so the young woman tells her to seek help elsewhere.

Jin Xia begs her to help Lu Yi by claiming that she is his maidservant, and that Lu Yi took a fancy to her.. and … did things. Jin Xia continues to say that while Lu Yi didn’t like her at first, he eventually fell for her after multiple seduction attempts. Lu Yi leans his head on the walking stick like a man trying to do a face palm moment (or like Sam Winchester being fed up with Dean’s shenanigans).
Jin Xia plays the star crossed lovers story for all its worth claiming that Lu Yi’s father chased them with a hound because he didn’t approve of their relationship. Jin Xia says that the hound chased them everywhere and when they finally made it Jiangnan, they were robbed. Jin Xia starts to sniffle. Jin Xia also claims they are going to get married, let those fake tears roll! Lu Yi asks the doctor to forgive his wife.

Doctor Lin tells them that she knows they are government officials so they can stop acting now. Doctor Lin heard the gunshots when Jin Xia shot her snakes and only government officials are allowed those weapons. Doctor Lin refuses to treat government officials but she does offer a trade, a life for a life. If Jin Xia chooses to die, then Doctor Lin will save Lu Yi.
Jin Xia points her gun at her own head, saying goodbye to Lu Yi. Lu Yi tells Doctor Lin that he doesn’t need anyone to sacrifice their life for his but Doctor Lin still demands her price. Lu Yi has no choice but to pull the gun away Jin Xia. However this action seems to have won them points in their favour as Doctor Lin now agrees to try and cure Lu Yi without causing Jin Xia’s death.
Meanwhile Yang Yue, his soul mate and the permanent third wheel are still following the path of marks left by Jin Xia.

In the house, Doctor Lin is busy suppressing Lu Yi’s poison. Jin Xia thanks her for curing Lu Yi but Doctor Lin says that she only agreed to suppress the poison not cure it. Jin Xia argues with her but Lu Yi tells her to stop it and rest. Jin Xia is mad because Lu Yi is very calm, Lu Yi tells her it’s because he doesn’t believe it’s his time to die yet.
Jin Xia then starts cooking but without Yang Yue to help her.. I’m not sure anything she makes is even edible. Doctor Lin isn’t too sure about the food either, so Jin Xia takes some of it away. Doctor Lin notices that Jin Xia burned her hand while cooking. While Jin Xia runs off to check on Lu Yi, Doctor Lin smiles. Jin Xia just might be winning over the good doctor!

Jin Xia checks on Lu Yi to find that he has a really high fever. She starts to wipe him down with a damp cloth when he grabs her arm, Lu Yi asks her not to leave. Jin Xia wonders if he’s dreaming about someone he likes. Jin Xia also worries about how she can convince the doctor to save Lu Yi.

Roll those end credits! That’s the end of Under The Power: Episode 21!
