The Bands Of Mourning

This is the 3rd book of the Wax and Wayne series but the 6th book of the Mistborn series.
This book starts with a bang and just keeps on going. I actually liked it better than the last two books and read it quite a bit faster as a result.
We finally get to see Wax get married to Steris as well as finding out that they do actually love each other. The first book didn’t hint at this too much as it seemed more like Marasi was going to be the love interest instead but I’m glad it went the other way. It took time for the couple to bond especially as everyone always puts Steris down when she is just trying to fit in.
We got some new characters in this book that expand the Mistborn world a bit. While we knew that other people could’ve survived the remaking of the world.. this is the first time the readers get to meet them. I actually thought the airship might have been a spaceship from another part of the Cosmere at first, but I was wrong.
Although a new enemy has emerged that leads to more questions which may be answered in the Mistborn: Secret History book which is supposed to be read next even though some events take place during the original trilogy. Sanderson insists it be read after The Bands of Mourning though so I shall follow the author’s advice on this one.
I do recommend this book of course and there is no spice in it, so younger readers can enjoy it too. There is some violence though so I would stick this in the YA to adult category.
