Dragon’s Fire

My copy of Dragon’s Fire by Christine Stobbe came from my Rocky Mountain Book Box. It was actually the August book box so I’m a little behind in reviewing it.
I would rate this a YA read, I would say a minimum of age of 13 though.
This book is the first book in a 10 book series, there’s magic, dragons, there’s even a slight dash of politics. There’s one scene that gave me strong Gaston and mob vibes from Beauty and the Beast (you’ll know the scene when you read it).
The main character Princess Ciara is too trusting and isn’t very worldly. The author does a good job of showing this throughout, I don’t blame the main character mostly because being a sheltered princess how she behaves makes a lot of sense. Her sister Mya however can go rot because she is a nightmare. I literally wanted to go into the book and slap her.
Speaking of characters that are complete jerks, Adrian is definitely one of those. Power hungry, betrothed to a princess that he treats like shit.. he definitely needed someone to put him in his place but sadly we’ll have to settle for Eric winning some verbal sparring matches instead.
The book does a good job of setting up the rest of the series though but I think I’ll stop here unless I get another from Rocky Mountain Book Box because well it is a good book.. it’s just not to my taste. It’s only available on Amazon though.
