This is the second book in the Fablehaven series so make sure you read Fablehaven first. While the last book mostly dealt with Kendra, Seth and their family, this book we got to know more about people outside of Fablehaven. At the end of the first book, Kendra gained the ability to see magical beings without having to drink milk.
This is another great story in the Cosmere universe. It’s a standalone novel but that doesn’t make it any less wonderful to read. This book was published before Mistborn. This would be the 4th Brandon Sanderson book I’ve read if we don’t count the novella of The Emperor’s Soul. I still like the Mistborn trilogy more but the characters of this book grew on me. I ended up cheering for them loud enough that I’m glad I wasn’t in library reading it! This
