The Poison Daughter

I got this from my August 2026 Book of the Month (BOTM) subscription box. It was a lot better than I thought it would be.

There are trigger warnings for this book but the author points them out at the very beginning of the book so any sample you read will include those first and foremost.

This is an older teen to adult book as there is quite a bit of spice to this book. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone under 16. No matter how dark things got in the book there were bits of humour as well. I absolutely love that the wolf Kyrin chose Harlow over Henry a few times and Henry’s reaction to it was just gold.

This book gave us two points of view throughout the story that of the main characters Harlow and Henry. While there were vampires in this story, they weren’t the main attraction. There was one plot point that did take me completely by surprise.. but I won’t spoil it for you.

I feel like fans of Elizabeth Wheatley’s books would also enjoy this book, especially if they liked Daindreth’s Assassin. I would also recommend this book to those that enjoy a darker fantasy romance story. All in all I greatly enjoyed this book and I’m glad I have a hardcover copy for my bookshelf. I don’t know if I would’ve picked it up on my own initiative so I’m glad BOTM gave me this opportunity to discover it.
