The Shrouded Queen

The Shrouded Queen by Ashley Tropea appears to be the first book in a series. I received this book as part of my June Book of the Month club subscription.

This is a book that I might not have picked up at a local bookstore because a part of the description reminded me of a romantasy or paranormal romance. A lot of those tend to be spicy or smutty depending on how you view it and not much else.

This was not that. There was romance though, but it there was a whole world to explore and only some spice in the story. I enjoyed this one a lot more than I thought I would. I hated Amunet but loved Samira. I will say that one plot point I guessed early on but that didn’t dampen how much I enjoyed the journey this book took me on.

It was interesting to have different shapeshifters beyond the usual werewolves. Keir was an interesting character from the start, I’m very curious to see where his story and Rade’s go from here.

I definitely recommend this book to others though as it’s a very enjoyable read. I would recommend this to be for adults or older teens though.
