Grip Of The Shadow Plague

This is the third book in the Fablehaven series so make sure you have read the other books first.
This book takes a more serious tone than the previous ones. While some magical creatures have died in the earlier novels the human characters have been mostly untouched.
As I always say, characters are always safe…until they’re not. In this book we get a better look at the Knights of the Dawn and how they work. Kendra got to meet a dragon while Seth got to discover a plague. Seth is at least now thinking about his what risks are truly worth taking and which ones are just reckless. I’m glad to see that he’s thinking a bit more about others and the possible consequences of his actions.
Kendra is also learning to take a few risks, although she hasn’t shown as much growth as Seth but then she is an older. I’m a little worried about some new characters given that we never saw the prisoner in the last book, and I’m a suspicious person. I’ll have to read the next book to see if my fears are well founded, or if I’m overthinking things.
I’m still greatly enjoying the series and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!!
