Blood Pact

Well after the horror of third book Blood Lines, I was more than happy to move onto the 4th book Blood Pact.

The books started with demons, went to werewolves, then mummies so it should be no surprise that in this book our heroes could come up against zombies.

Well.. it’s not exactly zombies.. it’s more like a mix of zombies and Frankenstein. It’s more science fiction than fantasy when it comes to these poor victims. While Mike and Henry are finally at least getting along while Vicki refuses to choose between the two, mostly because of her commitment issues. There is a resolution to all that in this book though.

We do get more flashes of Tony in this book but because the majority of it takes place in Kingston instead of Toronto we don’t see much of him. I found what happened to Vicki because of the mummy in the last book a lot scarier than anything in this book but I think that’s because of how helpless she was and how much danger she was in. I think it played to deeper fears that most women would have.

I love how Vicki has been handling her blindness and that it has been an ongoing issue since the first book. It’s also something that made the psych scene a lot scarier in the last book. I know it could have been a lot worse but those scenes were pretty bad as is.

There is only one book left in this series, Blood Debt which I’m excited to start reading. Then I’ll probably take a break by reading other authors for a bit before reading the spinoff series where Tony finally gets his chance to shine (he’s my favourite character).
