The Alloy Of Law

This is the first book in the Wax and Wayne series. It takes place after the Mistborn trilogy by 300 years and can technically be considered the 4th Mistborn novel.
While the original Mistborn trilogy had a heist crew overthrowing an evil tyrant, this one is a little more western meets Sherlock Holmes. There are still thefts but they aren’t being done by our protagonists. Instead we get a retired lawman, his quirky sidekick and a woman that was undervalued for her power but like many a story.. her power is much more valuable than people thought.
We may not have an evil tyrant but we did have another character that is incredibly hard to kill. We also had some cameos of characters from the original trilogy which was a bit unexpected considering 300 years have passed between the two books series.
It took me longer to finish this one because I just wasn’t as into it as the original Mistborn trilogy but maybe that’s because I’ve read the Stormlight Archive in between the two. It could also be because it felt like a western which to be honest isn’t my favourite type of story. I do look forward to seeing what the next book brings to table though.
