Wind And Truth

This is the 5th book of the Stormlight Archive which began with The Way of Kings.
Wow, this series just keeps improving with each book. Honestly this one was amazing and it’s getting harder to pick a favourite out of the series because I squealed just as much reading this one as I did reading Rhythm of War.
In fact Shallan wasn’t the only one excited by certain characters finally sharing a kiss. I’ll admit that relationship snuck up on me but that’s okay because they make a great couple so I’m happy. I’m also happy that we finally get the whole story about what happened to the heralds and Honor.
The last book had Kaladin healing old wounds and starting his path to become Roshar’s first therapist. This book continues him down this path which is such a natural progression of his character since he’s been looking after everyone’s mental health since the first book and Bridge Four.
We see Dalinar really grow in this book and it watching him change from The Blackthorn into a person that realized that he couldn’t approach every problem the same way . Watching his journey as he realized some of the ways failed and could have done better was agonizing but necessary.
Sigzil unfortunately got to see what Kaladin went through by leading the Windrunners, he also learned that he had to do things his own way and by doing so came up with some great plans. Venli has also grown so much since the start of the series. Thanks to Venli we know a bit more about chasmfiends and that was a bit of a surprise.
Sigzil wasn’t the only one to experience a dose of Kaladin though as Adolin got a lesson in some of what he went through as well. However in both cases the characters blame Kaladin for being so damn inspiring, because he survived it, they could too. This book was emotionally rough in a lot of ways on the characters, the ending was great though and worth the pain.
I definitely recommend this book, and I’m in love with the whole series to be honest. I’ll take a brief Sanderson break to read other things before going onto the Wax and Wayne series which is technically part of the Misborn series however this book connects to that part of the Cosmere in such a way that it’s pretty clear I need to read the Mistborn Era 2 series.
Reading now. Lots of pages this one got:)
