Twisted Wonderland: Rose-Red Tyrant

Well it started as a game, then it got an anime adaptation.. and now we have books and manga. This is the novel version.

The novel follows the prologue and book 1 of the Twisted Wonderland game. If you’ve watched the animation, then this novel covers that too.

I love the spin on classic fairy tales and in some ways it reminds me of the 10th Kingdom back when it was on TV (there was also a book of that too). We have classic Disney villains being the inspiration for the dorm. Not only that but those same villain’s stories have been turned so that they sound like heroes! It definitely adds another lawyer to the whole thing.

This book deals mostly with the Queen of Hearts dorm and its house warden Riddle Rosehearts and our hero Yu. Although Grim would say that he’s our hero… he’s just cute mischief. I will take a moment to say that Riddle had an abusive parent which we learn about late in the novel. I enjoy the game a fair bit and I’m on book two there.. which means I’m not reading the next novel in the series on my Kobo until I finish that because I don’t want spoilers.

I love the whole cast of characters and I can’t wait to go on more adventures with them in their various media formats.
