Fablehaven

I confess I have never read Fablehaven before. I’ve seen it in stores but I wasn’t sure it would appeal to an older audience.

Well I finally gave it a go, and yes it is a good book for all ages. It’s a fun read with some important lessons in there,

Fablehaven is going to be made into a movie in the near future, they are actually running a campaign on Backerkit to help fund it. I will be pledging because I enjoyed the book enough to get a physical copy. I admit that I also want that Hugo plushie. I hope the move ends up being as good as the book, the team looks good so far.

In fact this book reminded me a bit of The Girl Who Fell Beneath The Sea in the way that it was enjoyable fairy tale. This one can be read by a younger audience and there is no romance in this book at least.

This book also encourages kids to take care of living creatures and more importantly obey the rules. Rules are there for a reason and usually to protect people from harm. There’s a reason adults have a rule for looking both ways before crossing a street, or not to run with scissors (or umbrellas….) I actually appreciate that Fablehaven had real consequences for breaking the rules.

I would most definitely recommend this book to others especially if they have an interest in wildlife sanctuaries.
