Wow, the third book in the series and we finally have someone that isn’t a student die. In fact the dead person isn’t even female which makes a nice change of pace.
I hate Tad.. mostly because he clearly doesn’t understand how to help someone enjoy training for a 5k from scratch. He’s a bit of an insensitive jerk that way.
He also clearly doesn’t understand Heather or what she likes. I thought he might be a more interesting character after he was introduced in the last book but I’m very disappointed in him. Now back to Death Dorm where women have been shoved down elevator shafts, cheerleaders have been decapitated.. and now we finally have a gunshot victim.
I mean being an American novel you would sort of expect guns to make more of an appearance in the novels even though they mostly take place on a school campus. I’ll throw in a tiny spoiler of our gay couple still being happy together because I don’t want anyone to think something happened to them. They are officially marked safe from Death Dorm.
I’m so glad that Cooper said he loved Heather in the last book and I agree that he deserves better than to be a rebound guy. Heather’s Dad and his business partner Larry are giving me the icky feeling in this book but her Dad did right by Heather in the end which I didn’t think was going to happen.
I was worried Heather might have been dragged into something that she really didn’t want to do. Heather finally stood up for herself both to her Dad and to Tad which showed some real personal growth. I was really proud of her for that.
If you have enjoyed the other books so far, then I think that you’ll enjoy this one too. I definitely recommend it.
