I’ll make a confession, I haven’t read any Brandon Sanderson books before this. I picked this little novella as my taster because Brandon said on his website that it was short and would give the reader a feel for his work.
I loved this little book. It was short but it didn’t feel short, it felt complete in ways many novellas fail to do.
I’m not yearning for more of the story because I’m quite satisfied with the ending. The cast of characters were interesting, I also feel like this might have been a statement not just about art but maybe about AI tech in art. I’m not sure if it was intended but after hearing Brandon talk about the difference between Data of Star Trek making art and the current AI bots making art… I felt some of that in this book.
