I had a good chuckle at the beginning when the prologue warned readers that the author wouldn’t make things pretty.
Now a quick explanation on the difference between Young Adult (YA) and New Adult content by Elisabeth Wheatley is in order because I don’t consider this YA at all. Most people don’t and yet Goodreads had it tagged as YA.
There is a sex scene early in that immediately puts this novel in the 18+ category for me.
The book isn’t pretty but there were some surprises along the way. It’s very Roman coded so if you like Spartacus type tv shows then you would most likely enjoy this book. This isn’t a book I need to get a physical copy of though, and I won’t be continuing the series because it simply isn’t enjoyable to me.
