Under The Power: Episode 20

As Xie Xiao runs out of the Wu An Gang’s HQ, he runs into Yang Yue. Yang Yue is surprised to see that Xie Xiao has returned and asks about Sir Lu and Jin Xia. Xie Xiao admits that he got separated from them but is too busy trying to leave so he doesn’t explain anything, he just tells Yang Yue to go to the authorities while Xie Xiao plans on finding Jin Xia.

Poor Yang Yue is so confused. Shangguan Xi comes out a moment later though and asks him to accompany her somewhere. Shangguan Xi takes him elsewhere to a table where a jar of liquor known as the Red Daughter is sitting. Shangguan Xi explains that it’s the liquor that her father buried 20 years ago (it’s meant for her wedding).

Shangguan Xi wants to open it now but Yang Yue stops her saying that just because she’s broken hearted that doesn’t mean she should drink the alcohol that’s meant for her wedding. Shangguan Xi says that she’s not upset, it’s more like her heart feels empty. Shangguan Xi says that she’s been waiting years for Xie Xia, is she not good enough? Is that why Xie Xiao keeps leaving her?

Yang Yue sets her straight by telling her that she is too nice to Xie Xiao and that makes him take her for granted. Shangguan Xi agrees that she gave Xie Xiao everything that she had. Yang Yue then tells her not to be upset because she will meet her future husband one day and that man will be a thousand times better than Xie Xiao.

Yang Yue then takes advantage of her distraction to quickly wrap the liquor up and toss it into the river. He tells Shangguan Xi that when she finds her ideal husband and marries, then he will dive into the river himself to retrieve the jar. Shangguan Xi asks him what will happen if she never marries but Yang Yue refuses to believe that she won’t find a guy that will treat her right. Shangguan Xi is overwhelmed by emotions and has to sit down.

Master Lan and Xiao Xin go to the Guanling’s Officials’ Inn looking for Yang Yue but a guard tells him that he isn’t in so that they will have to come back later. Yang Yue is walking with Shangguan Xi when they bump into Swindler Lan. Shangguan Xi recognizes him as the man that brought Xie Xiao back.

Shangguan Xi asks what the Geomancer is doing here, so he tells her that he’s there to find a person called Yang Yue. Yang Yue is confused as to why Master Lan is looking for him but introduces himself. Master Lan can’t believe his luck so he hurriedly relays that message that Jin Xia left him about Sir Lu being poisoned and that they were heading to Zhenjiang to find a cure.

Master Lan offers up the badge that Jin Xia gave him as proof. Yang Yue takes it, then tells them that he has to inform his father before leaving. Shangguan Xi says that she will come too! As the two of them run off, Master Lan is sad that they didn’t get to share a meal together. Master Lan says that it’s time he heads back to his master whom he left 10 years ago. Master Lan is taking Little Xin with him of course but first they are going to grab some food.

Jin Xia and Lu Yi are walking in the rain when they both collapse. Jin Xia manages to get up, she goes over to the now unconscious Lu Yi and begs for him to wake up. Lu Yi does regain consciousness eventually and the two continue to hobble down the road.

The two take shelter at an inn where Lu Yi sits on a bed trying to use his inner force to cure the poison.. only to end up spitting blood. Apparently the move he was trying was counterproductive so he has to try a different way to slow the poison.

Shangguan Xi and Yang Yue arrive that village to find that the bodies have all been removed. Yang Yue spots the signs that Jin Xia left to point the way for them, apparently they headed south.

Back in the room, Jin Xia is worried about Lu Yi so she starts to wipe his face with a cloth.. then she gets nervous when she gets to his chest. Jin Xia scolds herself for being so shy when she’s been a constable for years and seen men before. She decides to keep wiping him down, which is of course when Lu Yi grabs her arm and opens his eyes.

Jin Xia hurriedly explains how she was worried about him catching a cold, which could make his condition worse. Lu Yi consents to let her continue with the cloth. Jin Xia starts but can’t look.. so she ends up getting part of his chest and clothes wet. Lu Yi scolds her for wiping at him haphazardly. Jin Xia starts again without looking but it doesn’t help. Lu Yi asks just where does she think she’s wiping?

Jin Xia opens her eyes and asks if Lu Yi has suppressed the poison. Lu Yi tells her that he has reduced its toxicity. They can’t enjoy the moment though because they hear Master Mao enter the inn calling for a waiter.

Jin Xia peeks through the door so she can see downstairs, she sees Mao Haifeng and then two thugs holding Uncle Beggar. Jin Xia silently closes the door then tells Lu Yi about what she has seen. Lu Yi asks for his clothes to be brought to him but then has to remind Jin Xia to give him some privacy so he can get changed.

They then use smoke to knock the guards out on lower the floor so that they can rescue Uncle Beggar. Lu Yi isn’t doing so well so Uncle Beggar and Jin Xia have to help him walk. Unfortunately for them, Master Mao notices the innkeeper has Lu Yi’s jade pendant so he knows that they were staying there. This is how he manages to catch them before they can get away.

Master Mao meets them out in the courtyard and Jin Xia tries to bluff her way through it but that doesn’t work. A fight breaks out but it’s mostly Jin Xia shooting people with her gun. Lu Yi looks like he can barely stand up. Master Mao is interested in Jin Xia’s gun so she tries to negotiate for their freedom. Master Mao says that he won’t let them live but if he gets the gun then he won’t kill them. Lu Yi tells Jin Xia to give the Mao the gun.

Jin Xia grudgingly hands over her gun but when Mao requests the blueprints for it, Jin Xia flatly refuses. A thug comes up to tell Mao that people are coming their way. That’s when Lu Yi collapses and starts to act strange. Uncle Beggar quickly removes Lu Yi’s wrist guard to find a line of poison going through his veins. Uncle Beggar says that it wasn’t Blue Jade flowers that poisoned Lu Yi but Purified Blue Jade flowers instead.

The toxin from Purified Blue Jade Flowers acts differently, instead of driving someone insane, instead it intensifies all their emotions. Jin Xia demands that Mao hand over an antidote to the poison but Uncle Beggar informs her that no such antidote exists. Mao says that while there is no cure, his men can keep Lu Yi alive.. if Jin Xia draws the blueprints to her gun for him.

Mao tells his men to keep Lu Yi alive with their special methods only until they receive the blueprints for the gun, then they are to kill everyone. Jin Xia suspects as much so she requests that Mao take them to Zhenjiang first. Mao agrees to her terms and off they go.

On a boat somewhere the evil Shi Fan tells Miss Zhai that Lu Yi is pretty capable, he didn’t expect that Lu Yi would stamp out Mao Haifeng’s nest in Yangzhou. Miss Zhai says that it’s hard to defend against Lu Yi as he’s quite clever and a quick thinker. She says that it’s hard to believe that all of Mao Haifeng’s years of hard work on the Blue Jade Flowers could be destroyed at a critical moment by one person.

Shi Fan then asks Miss Zhai’s opinion on whether or not he should let Lu Yi live. Miss Zhai is surprised as Shi Fan never cared about the mortality of other people before. Shi Fan says that before Lu Yi wasn’t worth his time since he was only Lu Ting’s son and a lowly field commander at that.

Shi Fan says that now Lu Yi has caught his interest, he doesn’t really want to kill him. Shi Fan orders Miss Zhai to arrange a meeting with Mao Haifeng and she is to spy on Lu Yi.

Yang Yue and Shangguan Xi are still following the trail left behind by Jin Xia when they are attacked by Dong Qi Sheng and his men. Dong Qi Sheng says that while he was only gone a few days, Shangguan Xi managed to destroy his fort. Yang Yue gets offended on Shangguan Xi’s behalf and tells Dong Qi Sheng that Shangguan Xi had nothing to do with the slaughter.

Dong Qi Sheng of course doesn’t believe them so a fight breaks out. They are doing pretty well, until Yang Yue gets caught between blades. Dong Qi Sheng demands that Shangguan Xi stop fighting or he’ll kill Yang Yue. Yang Yue doesn’t care about himself so he tells Shangguan Xi to keep fighting. Shangguan Xi however actually care about Yang Yue so she drops her weapons and surrenders. (Is anyone not a hostage in this episode?)

Later that night while the hostages are tied up to poles, Dong Qi Sheng mocks Shangguan Xi by telling her that their fates must be intertwined since she keeps falling into his hands. Dong Qi Sheng offers Shangguan Xi a deal, if she sleeps with him then he’ll give her a quick death.

Yang Yue struggles against his bonds while Shangguan Xi just spits in Dong Qi Sheng’s face. Dong Qi Sheng then offers for his men to service her instead. Yang Yue makes threats so Dong Qi Sheng offers him a turn once the others are done. Yang Yue then offers Dong Qi Sheng anything he wants, if Shangguan Xi is left alone. Dong Qi Sheng considers the offer and decides that Yang Yue must wear a collar and leash, and crawl around.

Shangguan Xi tells Yang Yue not to do it but Yang Yue would rather do that than have the woman he loves gang raped. Yang Yue wears the collar and crawls towards Dong Qi Sheng. Dong Qi Sheng gloats then says that while his men won’t rape Shangguan Xi.. he never said that he wouldn’t. Yang Yue tries to attack Dong Qi Sheng but he’s getting badly beaten by the thugs.

Just when you think Yang Yue’s down, he manages to wrap his chain around Dong Qi Sheng’s neck and order the thugs to get back. Dong Qi Sheng is sneaky and manages to pull out dagger. Yang Yue struggles to keep the dagger away from himself and in the best news, Dong Qi Sheng ends up stabbing himself in the heart. (May he rot forever in hell).

I’m pretty sure Yang Yue is acting on pure instinct now as he attacks the thugs.. and oh look Xie Xiao finally decides to show up. Yang Yue collapses as soon as he sees that Shangguan Xi is cut free from her bonds. Shangguan Xi runs towards him, she holds him as Yang Yue assures her that he’s not dying.. just very tired.

Yang Yue is recovering at the Wu An Gang HQ. Xie Xiao enters the room and has the gall to complain about how he wasn’t included in the search for Jin Xia. Shangguan Xi argues with him until they disturb Yang Yue’s rest. Shangguan Xi tells Xie Xiao to shut up so Yang Yue can sleep. Yang Yue however is having a nightmare about the recent experience and wakes up.

Seeing that Yang Yue is conscious, Xie Xiao starts in again on Shangguan Xi until Yang Yue gives him tongue lashing. Yang Yue basically points out all the ways that Xie Xiao is being an entitled little jerk. Shangguan Xi tells Yang Yue that she doesn’t need anyone to stick up for her, and after a few more words with Xie Xiao she leaves.

Xie Xiao realizes he screwed up big time as Shangguan Xi has never been that angry at him before. Yang Yue sits up in the bed and reminds Xie Xiao that he’s not the only person that’s concerned about Jin Xia. Yang Yue says that after they rest and recover, they will go look for her together. Yang Yue also tells Xie Xiao that he should find time to apologize to Shangguan Xi.

The next morning, Yang Yue goes to Shangguan Xi. Shangguan Xi apologizes for her words last night. Shangguan Xi says that she was already embarrassed and just didn’t want to be humiliated further. Yang Yue tell her that she doesn’t have to explain as he understands. Shangguan Xi then thanks him for saving her, only to have Yang Yue reply that she is worth saving.

Yang Yue is having trouble with the fact that he killed someone as it’s his first time. He tells Shangguan Xi that Jin Xia would always say that his hands were meant to be chef’s hands. Shangguan Xi says that she envies the fact that Yang Yue is so upset about killing, and she hopes that it’s the last time that he has to kill someone.

Back to the Lu Yi & Jin Xia hostage situation. Mao has transported them to Zhenjiang and demands that Jin Xia draw the other half of the blueprints for her gun. Jin Xia points out that she can’t draw anything while her hands are still tied. Once her hands are free she quickly shares a look with Lu Yi.

While everyone is watching Jin Xia, Lu Yi begins untying Uncle Beggar’s ropes. Jin Xia then says that she can’t draw the blueprint because Lu Yi had modified her gun. Mao is reluctant to bring Lu Yi over because he doesn’t want Lu Yi to escape. Jin Xia points out that Lu Yi is very sick, so it’s not like he’s going to be running anywhere…
