Kamen Rider: Episode 9

At Shocker HQ a new monster minion is being given something out of a Petri dish. The boss PA system says that when certain substances in the Cobra man’s body mix, it will allow the monster to dissolve any substance at will.

The boss PA system tells Cobra man that he should try it out. This means poor unfortunate minion red shirt (not actually his name) has been chosen as a test subject for the acid because he’s useless for anything else according to the Shocker boss. It works but it looks very bubbly..

The Boss PA system says that Shocker is going to use Cobra man’s abilities to steal all the gold in the world. They are of course going to start at the Japanese Gold Repository. (Gold? Who the heck wants gold? Go for the money! Cash is a lot easier to carry and harder to track).

At the Ministry of Finance Gold Repository a poor security guard notices something odd. His name is Kondo but when he investigates he just finds another security guard )instead of something else.. like a cobra for example). K

ondo is excited as he’s told it’s shift change so he hurries down stairs. He gets stopped at the exit by another guard and they have a quick chat. Kondo apparently has a son and a puppy dog.

While Kondo is giving his puppy head rubs and tucking his kid’s arm back under the covers, Cobra man is attacking the bank. The security team must live in dorms or something because Kondo’s dog gets up, leaves the room and encounters Cobra man in the safe.

The dog’s name is Dummy and he barks at Cobra man. Dummy chases Cobra man around the safe which causes Cobra man to drop something before fleeing. (Good puppy!)

It comes as no surprise that the heist makes the news. Hongo is certain that Shocker is behind it. At the cafe, Mr. Tachibana is reading the paper, he says that Shocker must be trying to take over the world and they are starting by stealing gold. Hongo then enters the cafe, mostly to let Mr. Tachibana know that he’s heading to the gold reserve.

Ruriko comes over to him with a pendant much to Hongo’s confusion. She puts it on him saying that there’s a protection charm in the locket. Mr. Tachibana teases Hongo by saying it’s a bell for the cat because they never know where he is.

Kondo returns from his shift at work to his little apartment looking trashed. Cobra man and the Shocker goons are there because Dummy stole Cobra man’s fangs.. and brought them home. (Hahaha!)

I will never forgive the show for this but they killed Dummy. (Curse you Kamen Rider writers!!!) Anyway Kondo tells Cobra man where he buried Dummy because that’s probably where the fangs are.

RIP Dummy

Kondo’s kid brought a flower and planted it at Dummy’s grave while hopes Dummy is in heaven. (All dogs go heaven, didn’t he watch the movie?) Unfortunately after visiting the grave the kid runs into Cobra man and his goons. The kid makes a run for it but manages to get caught by the minions.

Luckily for Kondo’s kid, Kamen Rider is hot on their trail. Kamen Rider follows the car to an abandoned building. However by the time he catches up, nobody is in the car. The minions soon come out from their hiding places to fight Kamen Rider.

After defeating the minions, Kamen Rider starts fighting Cobra man. Kamen Rider demands that Cobra let the child go as he’s just a kid. Cobra says that he can’t as Shocker still needs him. Cobra spins around really fast and disappears down a tunnel he made in the dirt. Kamen Rider uses his super hearing to track Cobra man down.

At Cobra’s hiding spot, the poor kid is hung over a vat of acid. His shoe falls off and dissolves in the red bubbly liquid. (I’m getting flashbacks of Who Framed Roger Rabbit?) Cobra keeps asking where his fangs are but the poor kid claims that he doesn’t know.

Shocker must be getting smarter because they actually left someone in a high position as lookout, so they spotted Kamen Rider as he approaches and sound the alarm. Cobra and his minions go outside to watch Kamen Rider as he gets closer. Cobra has even planted land mines around the hideout.

Kamen Rider manages to avoid the land mines, so the Shocker minions are forced to fight him. Cobra escapes back to the inner lair where he starts to lower the kid towards the acid. (He’s using a hand crank, so it’s slow). Kamen Rider shows up before the kid meets the red bubbles.

Cobra demands that Kamen Rider surrender or else the kid will meet a bad end. Kamen Rider surrenders to Cobra.

Mr. Tachibana has been tracking Kamen Rider because the necklace that Ruriko gave him is actually a tracker! Mr. Tachibana complains that Hongo really knows how to make him worry.

Kamen Rider has been brought to Shocker HQ, he is then chained to the same table as in the first episode as Shocker wants to complete Kamen Rider’s transformation by brainwashing him. The boss PA system can’t help but brag about how after the surgery, Kamen Rider will be under Shocker’s complete control.

Hongo fights against his bonds so of course that’s when Cobra walks into the room with a minion carrying the boy. Apparently the kid’s name is Takehiko as Hongo calls out to him. The minion ran the boy through tests but the boy was telling the truth, he has no clue where Cobra’s fangs are.

The boss PA system says that it will take 6 months for Shocker to make another pair of fangs for Cobra, he’ll just have to wait for the new ones. Hongo taunts Cobra by saying that he destroyed those fangs and threw them into the river. Cobra is about to kill Hongo which is when a minion brings in Mr. Tachibana.

Mr. Tachibana starts fighting the minions, during the fight he manages to free Hongo so that he can fight too. Hongo grabs the unconscious Takehiko and the three escape the hideout. Hongo then gives Takehiko over to Mr. Tachibana to keep safe while Kamen Rider goes to fight Shocker.

Kamen Rider defeats the Shocker thugs and then finishes Cobra with a Rider Kick move. Takehiko wakes up and runs out to cheer for Kamen Rider as he killed the man that murdered Dummy. Kamen Rider drives his motorcycle past the two of them.

Later Kamen Rider takes a bouquet to Dummy’s grave and he ends up finding Cobra’s fangs on top of the grave. That’s when he hears Takehiko approaching so he quickly leaves.

Takehiko is with Mr. Tachibana and Ruriko. He has also brought flowers for Dummy. Takehiko seeing that there’s already flowers there, he wonders who could have visited the grave before him. Mr. Tachibana says that the flowers must have been left by Kamen Rider.

Takehiko says that he wants to meet Kamen Rider again so Ruriko promises to take him to meet Kamen Rider someday. Ruriko then wonders where Hongo might be. Mr. Tachibana says that he knows where Hongo is because he planted a tracker inside Ruriko’s gift. They both laugh.

Roll those end credits! That’s the end of Kamen Rider: Episode 9!
